Donna Jarrell is Founder of Donna Jarrell Ministries and POID, Parents of Intoxicated Drivers and is an ordained minister. Donna has a passion as a Kingdom Ambassador to speak, sharing the good news of the message of the Kingdom to the nations. She is a public speaker, author, and activist. Donna Jarrell Ministries prays for healing first and then rehabilitation for people with sicknesses, traumas and tragedies through mentorship, counsel, and prayer, grounded in Biblical, Kingdom truths.
Donna Jarrell Ministries was formed through great sorrow and deep grief and pain, and its roots began on the night of March 19, 2015, with her son’s tragic felony DUI accident. For eight months she could not even talk about this horrific tragedy and cried out to God to help deliver her from her debilitating grief. On Thanksgiving 2015, she woke up in the middle of the night and words began to flow from the depths of my heart. Out of all the pain and grief, she wrote a song called “MODD CRY,” Mothers of Drunk Drivers’ Cry, which is a cry for preventative, lifesaving Driver Alcohol Detection Systems for Safety to be put in all new cars to end drunk driving. The song tells of the horrors of drunk driving and how it all gets started in teenagers’ lives. Her son wrote a song called “I Know I’m A Fool” about that fateful night to educate people and help save lives. Her poem, “A Drunk Driver’s Heartfelt Plea,” shares the remorse of the drunk driver who never dreamed or imagined they would hurt or kill anyone in an unintentional car accident.
Donna educates the public to save lives and advocates on the front end for loopholes in SC DUI laws to be closed so drunk drivers can get convicted and not go right back on S.C. highways. SC is #1 in the nation for DUI deaths. On the back end she fights against unjust SC laws that classify felony DUI as violent criminals, unlike most every state classifying it as a nonviolent crime. The nature of alcohol reduces a person’s inhibitions, therefore making in and of itself the person less responsible beginning with the first sip of any drink. Alcohol causes one to have an inability to make wise decisions or choices. A person chooses to drink but they do not choose to kill someone in a car accident, having no violent intent or motive. God showed her to carry a torch for SC DUI reform. People say,” But for the grace of God, it could have happened to me”.
God gave Donna a vision of the cover of her new book. He named it “The Radical New Me: My Journey of Faith”, instructing her in a God given dream to write it in Dec., 2021. She shares about the miraculous healing of her husband from Lymphoma cancer and the grief & pain from the tragic accident that changed their lives forever. Donna wants to help others with what she has been through herself, teaching them how to navigates through the storms of life, as they trust God and rise up, becoming all that He has called them to be! In February, 2025 her book was revised and updated and now includes Summaries & Reflection Questions, making it perfect for book clubs and church group studies.
Donna graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC with a bachelors degree in elementary education and furthered her studies at The Citadel in Charleston, SC with a Master of Education degree. She is an experienced teacher, having taught in both public and private Christian schools in grades ranging from first through fifth. She worked as a reading consultant in a Title 1 Program, providing instruction to disadvantaged students with low reading test scores. Donna is now a retired elementary schoolteacher and lives in Charleston, SC.
She is married to Rick, her high school sweetheart of 48 years. She has two daughters, Krista and Leslie, and one son, Brian. Her four grandkids call her Mama J. Check out more info, along with her three song videos, on her website at
